Founded in 1721 as a tobacco shop, this company began manufacturing Western-style umbrellas in the 1870s and completed Japan's first plastic umbrella in 1958. It remains the country's only domestic manufacturer of vinyl umbrellas, based in Kotobuki, Taito-ku.
