Why visitUbagamochiya
Founded in 1569 in Kusatsu, where the Tokaido and Nakasendo roads met, Ubagamochiya has made its namesake bite-sized rice cakes wrapped in sweet bean paste for over 450 years. The confection was beloved by Edo-period travelers and even appears in woodblock prints by Hiroshige and Hokusai.
