Why visitTenyasu Honten
Founded in 1837, Tenyasu Honten is the oldest surviving tsukudani (soy-simmered seafood) shop on Tsukuda Island, the birthplace of this preservation technique. The shop has continuously made and sold tsukudani from the same narrow-fronted, traditional machiya storefront for over 180 years, and the building is documented in Chuo Ward's historic architecture survey.
