The building has operated continuously at this Nishi-Shinjuku address since 1959, first as a general goods store, then from 1964 as the coffeehouse Eden. In 1987 it was renovated and reopened as Tajimaya Coffee, a hand-roasting coffeehouse that still stands at the entrance to Omoide Yokocho.
