Founded in 1846 in the Akata district of Shuri during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, Shinzato Shuzo is said to be the oldest surviving awamori distillery in Okinawa. Guided tours of its Uruma City distillery include tastings of awamori and moromi vinegar.
