Founded in 1808, Sakurai Kanseido began with kuri-rakugan, a chestnut confection created by founder Ikuemon Sakurai. For over two centuries the shop has crafted chestnut sweets such as kuri-yokan and kuri-kanoko in Obuse, Nagano's famed chestnut town.
