Founded in 1968 in Meguro as Ramen Jiro (originally written differently), the shop relocated to Mita-dori in the 1970s, where a signboard error changed the characters used for its name. It became the birthplace of the Jiro-kei genre, famous for enormous portions, extra vegetables, and garlic.
