Nishino Kinryo began brewing sake in Kotohira in 1789, drawn by the fine rice and water at the foot of Kotohiragu Shrine. Its Kinryo no Sato museum, open daily with free admission, displays historic brewing tools and offers tastings and sales of Kinryo sake.
